Details:
- Extracted from the seed of the flax plant, this oil is filtered and then “washed” with alkaline water to remove acid impurities. The resulting product is golden, rich & sweet-smelling oil that is composed primarily of linolenic acid. Alkali Refined Linseed Oil is demanded for furniture finish, oil paints, wood floors and others.
- It is extensively used for the production of oil modified polyester resins (i.e. alkyd resins), stand oils, printing varnishes, maleate and urethane oils in the synthetic varnish-paints-and printing colour industry. It also finds application as a binder in pigment pastes. The presence of linolenic acid with its ability to polymerize readily in the presence of metallic driers such as cobalt or manganese is of great value to ink-makers.
